Platonic relationships are not always easy to define. This video answers the question ‘What is a platonic relationship?’ and dives into the definition of platonic love.
Having a loving relationship with someone doesn’t have to include sex and physical intimacy. A platonic love or a platonic relationship can be a strong emotional connection, without the romantic element. We can develop a platonic attraction, platonic love or even a platonic marriage, without ever allowing it to become a physically intimate relationship.
The meaning of platonic relationship is essentially a caring relationship with the absence of romance, and we can develop it with our friends, colleagues from work, and so on.
The definition of ‘platonic’ is derived from works of the Greek philosopher Plato, and although the meaning of platonic love is a bit different today than it was in Plato’s time, it still represents an ideal of romance-free attraction between people.
